Of course, SHARON VAN ETTEN could be resting on the laurels she received in spades in 2012 for her breakthrough album 'Tramp'.But SHARON VAN ETTEN is one of those artists who is always hungry; who can't wait to turn another corner and dive deeper, writing from a place of honesty and vulnerability.SHARON VAN ETTEN has the ability to form an intimate connection with the listener that few contemporary artists possess.Possessed by a restless spirit, VAN ETTEN continuously challenges himself. The current result of this is "Are We There", a self-produced album of extraordinary intimacy, heavenly generosity and immense range. Most musicians are quite content to leave the production of their music to someone else. But VAN ETTEN knew it was time to make an album with her own rules.Still, she needed support for this big step. She found it in veteran music producer Stewart Lerman. The two had already collaborated on the Boardwalk Empire soundtrack and were now embarking on new roles.Lerman's studio expertise allows VAN ETTEN to approach, Are We There "exactly as she envisioned it.She also drew on the individual talents of her band, Heather Woods Broderick, Doug Keith and Zeke Hutchins, and recruited some of her friends like Dave Hartley and Adam Granduciel of THE WAR ON DRUGS, Jonathan Meiberg of SHEARWATER, Jana Hunter of LOWER DENS, Peter Broderick, Mackenzie Scott (TORRES), Stuart Bogie, Jacob C.Morris and Mickey Freeze. From the opening notes of the first song, Afraid Of Nothing ", it's clear that we're dealing with a new consciousness here; with a SHARON VON ETTEN at a creative peak, operating from a place that seems almost mythical if it weren't so tangible and authentic.Always direct and never inhibited when it comes to personal narratives, SHARON VAN ETTEN is constantly evolving her songwriting
