Taylor Swift continues to go from strength to strength. The American pop singer has just received the award for the best video of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards 2022, and in her acceptance speech she announces a new album called "Midnights.
With this, Taylor Swift has released six studio albums in the last three years. "Lover" from 2019 still showed the 32-year-old from her usual poppy side. But then came Corona and during the pandemic, the singer and songwriter has recorded two more albums more or less on her own. Both "Folklore" and "Evermore" were released in 2020 and featured a more stripped-down sound, more reminiscent of classic folk and singer-songwriter music. Then, last year, Swift completely re-recorded and re-released her older albums " Fearless" and " Red." Among other things, because there were legal disputes with a previous label over the master rights to the original recordings.
So now with "Midnights" a new album is released, about which not much has been announced yet. So far, the musician from Pennsylvania has only let slip that it is supposed to be a concept album, whose ideas came to Swift in sleepless nights. She calls it a "journey through horrors and sweet dreams." She manages to pack the moment of "lying awake at night" into music and thus share it with her fans. Taylor Swift processes these sleepless situations and moments of her life in 13 new songs and invites her fans to be part of it: "Meet Me At Midnight".
Co-producer Jack Antonoff is also back on board. He and Taylor Swift have been working together since 2013 and for "Evermore" he received the Grammy for Producer of the Year in 2022.
