Progressive Trance
Progressive trance is a style of trance music that emerged in the early 1990s. It is characterized by a tempo between 130 and 150 beats per minute, melodic elements, and a distinct driving bass line. Its sound is typically characterized by a strong, fast-paced beat and a steady rhythm, with a wide variety of sounds and effects. It is often considered to be an evolution of the Goa trance style, which emerged from the Indian subcontinent in the early 1990s. The style was popularized in Europe, particularly in Germany and the UK, where it was initially known as ‘progressive trance’ or ‘progressive house’. Over time, it developed a more melodic sound, and the name ‘progressive trance’ was adopted. Progressive trance is now widely popular in nightclubs and on the radio, and is a popular genre of electronic dance music.
