Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) was a Russian composer of the Romantic era, best known for his ballets Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. His orchestral works include the 1812 Overture, Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, and the Pathétique Symphony. He is also known for the operas Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades.
