Queens Of The Stone Age

Queens Of The Stone Age (QOTSA) is a rock band from Palm Desert, California, formed in 1996 by vocalist/guitarist Josh Homme. The band’s early lineup also included Nick Oliveri on bass and Alfredo Hernandez on drums, though their lineup has changed over the years.

QOTSA’s first album, 1998’s self-titled debut, showcased their unique blend of hard rock, metal, and stoner rock, with standout tracks like “Walkin’ on the Sidewalks” and “If Only.” Their second album, 2000’s Rated R, continued their evolution, with its harder sound, which featured songs like “Feel Good Hit of the Summer” and “The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret.”

Their 2002 album, Songs for the Deaf, was their breakthrough album, featuring an all-star cast of guest musicians, including Dave Grohl, Mark Lanegan, and Dean Ween. Standout tracks include “No One Knows,” “Go with the Flow,” and “Do It Again.”

In 2007, the band released Era Vulgaris, which featured their most commercial song to date, “Sick, Sick, Sick.” Their 2013 album …Like Clockwork was the band’s first album in six years and featured the hit single “My God Is the Sun.”

An interesting fact about Queens of the Stone Age is that Homme was initially inspired to form the band after seeing a live performance by Kyuss, a stoner rock band from the same area in California.
