Ragtime
Ragtime is an American musical style that originated in the late 19th century. It is characterized by syncopated rhythms, syncopated melodies, and a syncopated bass line. It was originally developed as a dance music and was most popular during the ragtime era of the early 20th century. Ragtime music is considered to be the first original American popular music style and is strongly associated with the African American community. The style was developed by African American musicians and composers such as Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, and Eubie Blake, who combined traditional African American music and European classical music elements. Ragtime was influential in the development of jazz, blues, and other forms of American popular music.
