Ralph Vaughan Williams Vinyl Records

Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872–1958) was an English composer, conductor, and folk-song collector. He was one of the most important and influential English composers of the 20th century. His works included nine symphonies, numerous operas and choral works, concertos, chamber music, and film scores.

Vaughan Williams's most famous works include the Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis (1910), the Fantasia on Greensleeves (1934), the Fifth Symphony (1943), the Sinfonia Antartica (1952), and the Mass in G Minor (1922).

Vaughan Williams was also a keen collector of English folk songs, resulting in the English Hymnal (1906) and Songs of Praise (1925).

An interesting fact about Vaughan Williams is that he was a pacifist and conscientious objector during World War I, and joined the Royal Army Medical Corps in 1917. He also wrote the hymn "For the Fallen" in 1914, which became one of the most popular war memorial songs in England.
