At the end of 2020, Amyl And The Sniffers entered the studio with producer Dan Luscombe, where they recorded the album they had previously spent over a year developing at home. The influences are wide-ranging: from old-school rock'n'roll (AC / DC, Rose Tattoo, Motörhead and Wendy O Williams) to modern hardcore (Warthog and Power Trip) and local heroes (Colored Balls and Cosmic Psychos). For the lyrics, however, frontwoman Taylor drew inspiration from her rap idols and countless garage bands. Of the 17 songs recorded, 13 eventually found their way onto the album, which was mixed by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, IDLES, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and mastered by Bernie Grundman (Michael Jackson, Prince, Dr. Der).Amy Taylor says of the album, "If you had to explain what this record is like, it's like watching an episode of The Nanny, but the setting is an Australian car show and the Nanny is dealing with social issues and she's reading some books and Mr. Sheffield is drinking beer in the sun. It's a Mitsubishi Lancer going slightly over the speed limit in a school zone. It's realizing how good it is to wear sweatpants to bed. It's having someone to cook you dinner when you're really devastated . It's being able to shadowbox on stage when I'm drenched in sweat instead of sitting quietly in the corner. "
