They are back: Only one year after drummer and singer Aaron Frazer ventured out on his own for the first time with his debut album "Introducing...", Durand Jones & The Indications were back in the studio together and have recorded a new band album"Private Space" is the name of the third longplayer after "Durand Jones & The Indications" from 2016 and "American Love Call" from 2019The album sessions in Bloomington began after the band members hadn't met in about a year. The reunion excitement was high, and so was the creativity. And that's how ten songs were finally created, in which Durand Jones & The Indications continue to think about the timeless soul of the previous album, opening the door to a new sound world between funk, soul and disco beats with strings. Revial sounds meet modern attitude. The high and soft falsetto vocals of Aaron Frazer and the powerful voice of Durand Jones still harmonize perfectly. Guitarist Blake Rhein, keyboardist Steve Okonski and bassist Mike Montgomery again provide the effective musical frameworkThe band revealed just what that sounds like back in May with their first single release, "Witchoo." The second taste of the album followed in June with opener "Love Will Work It Out."The band describes the tracks on "Private Space" as escapist fantasy and a much-needed reorientation after a tumultuous 2020, emphasizing collective resilience - and the power of a good song to be a light in the darkness. Aaron Frazer commented, "I feel like we arrive in people's lives when they're going through a really hard time. We're not out of the woods yet, but hopefully it allows people to come back together, share and have a catharsis."For those hoping the same, "Private Space" is available now on CD, black LP, and LP on Red Nebula vinylFrom a basement in Indiana, where the then-student band recorded their debut album named after themselves in 2016, Durand Jones & The Indications have catapulted into the soul spotlight and onto an international stage. After their sophomore album, American Love Call, a dreamy but thoughtful record with big string arrangements and sweet soul stylings, the band was adored by vintage music fans, the lowrider community and late-night television. And as the world slowly recovers from the chaos of the past year in 2021, they're releasing their third album, Private Space, at just the right time.
