No one can deny that Scott Walker is an unpredictable artist. Once the lead singer of the Walker Brothers, he released his first solo album "Scott" in 1967. Walker bucked all the pop trends of the time, turned the dial up a notch and tipped his hat to Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Jacques Brel - a pretty bold move at a time when pop sounded psychedelic, minimalist and fast. His philosophical lyrics are accompanied by lushly orchestrated tracks that make "Scott" a diverse listening experience. This approach paid off: the album reached the top 3 of the British album charts and was the first in a long line of solo albums. One of the songs on this album ("The Lady Came From Baltimore") was penned by Tim Hardin.
