The Budos Band is back and wilder than ever! If you don't want to jump right into your car with this music or pour yourself a strong drink and have fun, you just haven't turned it up loud enough.Drummer Brian Profilio wanted to capture a certain mood with the linoleum cut that is emblazoned on the new album of the Budos Band: rough, primitive, direct. But the mountain on the cover of "Budos Band V", the successor of "Burnt Offering" from 2014, should be more than just an impressive picture. He also stands for the band's way through ups and downs on their musical journey.Fans of the Budos Band and their crashing instrumentals will immediately remember the hard rock influence of "Burnt Offering" when they hear the ten tracks on the new album - whether on the cinema-ready opener "Old Engine Oil" or the trippy "Maelstrom". Band member Jared Tankel (baritone sax) notes that the classic Budos sounds of the first three albums can also be heard. "On 'Burnt Offering' we tried to develop a rougher rock sound," he says. "With this album we have refined our method a little bit. We knew how to record a rock album from working on its predecessor, so we were able to shift down a gear.Guitarist and producer Tom Brenneck thinks that "Budos Band V" is the album that best expresses what the band is about. The collaboration between Brenneck and Daptone-co-founder Gabe Roth is also responsible for this harmonious mixture. Roth produced the band's first three albums and was involved in the mix of the fifth - a comfort to him after the Daptone-family mourned the deaths of Charles Bradley and Sharon Jones.
