Ron Carter is a renowned American jazz double-bassist, cellist, and composer. He is one of the most recorded bassists in jazz history, having played on over 2,500 albums and earning 18 Grammy Award nominations. Some of Carter's most notable albums include 1971's Spanish Blue, 1972's Uptown Conversation, and 1974's All Blues. He has also released a number of solo albums, such as 2003's Dear Miles, 2005's Gershwin Duets, and 2012's Conversations. Notable songs that feature Ron Carter include Miles Davis' "So What" and Herbie Hancock's "Cantaloupe Island". An interesting fact about Ron Carter is that he was the first jazz musician to teach at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he was a faculty member from 1987 to 2001.
