Rumba
Rumba is a style of Cuban music and dance that originated in the late 19th century in the region of Matanzas. It is a combination of African and Spanish elements, and is a popular dance style in Latin America and around the world. Rumba music is characterized by a strong rhythmic foundation and melodic improvisation. It is traditionally performed with two drums and a clave (percussion instrument). The two main styles of rumba are guaguancó and columbia, both of which are characterized by call and response between lead singers and chorus, and by complex and intricate rhythmic patterns.
