Son House

Son House was an American Delta blues musician, who is best known for his deep, powerful singing and guitar playing. He was born in Lyon, Mississippi, and his career spanned the 1920s through the 1960s. His style was influential in the development of the Mississippi blues sound and Delta blues.

Son House's standout albums include Father of the Delta Blues: The Complete 1965 Sessions, which was released in 1990 and featured House's versions of classics such as "John the Revelator," "Death Letter Blues," and "Grinnin' in Your Face." He also released The Legendary 1941–42 Library of Congress Field Recordings, which was a collection of recordings made for the Library of Congress in 1941–42. His most popular songs include "John the Revelator," "Death Letter Blues," and "Grinnin' in Your Face."

An interesting fact about Son House is that he was mentored by Charley Patton, another influential blues musician from Mississippi. He also helped shape the blues music of the Mississippi Delta and was one of the first to record in the "Delta Blues" style. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980 and was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
