Sound Art
Sound Art is an experimental genre of music that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is a hybrid of sound and visual arts, often combining elements of musique concrète, musique concrete, electroacoustic, minimalism, and drone music. Sound Art focuses on sound as a medium for creating works of art and often includes elements of field recordings, improvisation, and manipulation of sound with technology. It has been used in performance, installation, and radio art. The history of Sound Art is closely tied to developments in technology and the avant-garde music scene, with figures such as John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Pierre Schaeffer being instrumental in its evolution.
