Speed Metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that originated in the early 1980s. It is characterized by fast tempos, frenetic guitar riffs, and complex song structures. Speed Metal is closely related to Thrash Metal and is often associated with extreme lyrics, aggressive vocals, and often fast drumming. It is said to have been pioneered by bands such as Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax.
