Survivor is an American rock band formed in Chicago in 1978. The band is best known for their 1982 hit song "Eye of the Tiger" from the Rocky III soundtrack. They also had several other charting singles, including "Burning Heart" from Rocky IV, "The Search Is Over" from Vital Signs, and "I Can't Hold Back" from Caught in the Game.

The band's debut album, Survivor, was released in 1979, followed by Premonition in 1981 and Eye of the Tiger in 1982. Their 1984 album Vital Signs produced their biggest hit, "The Search Is Over", which reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The band's other notable albums include When Seconds Count (1986), Too Hot to Sleep (1988), and Reach (2006).

Survivor disbanded in 1988 and reunited in 1993. They have continued to tour and release albums since then, including Unbreakable (2000), Reach (2006), and their most recent album, Resilience (2011).

An interesting fact about Survivor is that they have sold over 40 million albums worldwide and have been nominated for two Grammy Awards. They also have the distinction of being one of the few rock bands of the 1980s to have all of their original members still performing together.
