Teenage Fanclub
Teenage Fanclub is an alternative rock band formed in 1989 in Bellshill, Scotland. The band consists of Norman Blake (vocals, guitar), Raymond McGinley (vocals, guitar), Gerard Love (vocals, bass) and Francis MacDonald (drums).
Their standout albums include Bandwagonesque (1991), Grand Prix (1995) and Songs from Northern Britain (1997). Bandwagonesque and Grand Prix were both nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and Songs from Northern Britain was named Album of the Year by both NME and Select Magazine.
Notable songs include "The Concept" (from Bandwagonesque), "Sparky's Dream" (from Grand Prix) and "Your Love Is the Place Where I Come From" (from Songs from Northern Britain).
An interesting fact about Teenage Fanclub is that they are one of the few bands to have been championed by both the indie and mainstream press. They have been praised by critics for their melodic and thoughtful pop songs and their influence has been cited by bands such as Oasis, Belle and Sebastian, The Lemonheads and Super Furry Animals.
