The Doors was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965, composed of vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. Their debut album, The Doors, was released in 1967 and featured their most successful single, "Light My Fire". They went on to release six more studio albums, including L.A. Woman (1971) and Morrison Hotel (1970), before Morrison's death in 1971.
The Doors were known for their psychedelic sound, as well as Morrison's provocative and often surreal lyrics. Some of their most famous songs include "Break On Through (To the Other Side)", "People Are Strange", "Riders On The Storm" and "Touch Me". They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time.
An interesting fact about The Doors is that their song "Hello, I Love You" was the first rock song to be played on the moon, when it was broadcast by the crew of Apollo 10 in 1969.
