The London Symphony Orchestra Vinyl Records
The London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is one of the world's oldest and most prestigious orchestras, having been founded in 1904. It is based in London's Barbican Centre and has been conducted by some of the most influential figures in music, including Sir Edward Elgar, Sir Thomas Beecham and Sir Simon Rattle.
The LSO has produced some of the most memorable and innovative recordings of classical music, such as the 1966 recording of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 8, the 1971 recording of Igor Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring," and the 1976 recording of Richard Strauss's "Also Sprach Zarathustra."
The LSO has also made its mark on popular music, having collaborated with a variety of artists, including Pink Floyd, the Beatles, and Led Zeppelin. Their version of Pink Floyd's "Echoes" is particularly notable, having been released as a single and earning them a Grammy Award.
An interesting fact about the LSO is that they are the only orchestra to have been awarded the Queen's Award for Export Achievement, in recognition of their efforts to bring classical music to the world.
