The Mission is an English gothic rock band that was formed in 1986 in Leeds, England. The original line-up consisted of singer and guitarist, Wayne Hussey, bassist Craig Adams, drummer Mick Brown, and guitarist Simon Hinkler.

The Mission's debut album, God's Own Medicine, was released in 1986 and featured the hit single "Stay With Me". The album was a commercial success, reaching number four on the UK Albums Chart and establishing The Mission as one of the top gothic rock bands of the era.

The band's follow-up album, Children, was released in 1988 and was another success. The lead single, "Tower of Strength", became a Top 10 hit in the UK and was followed by the successful single "Butterfly on a Wheel". The album reached number two in the UK Albums Chart.

The Mission's third album, Carved in Sand, was released in 1990 and featured the hit single "Wasteland". The album reached number three in the UK Albums Chart. The band's fourth album, Masque, was released in 1992 and featured the hit single "Deliverance". The album reached number six in the UK Albums Chart.

The Mission's fifth album, Aura, was released in 1995 and featured the hit single "Like a Child Again". The album reached number 10 in the UK Albums Chart.

The Mission's sixth album, Neverland, was released in 2001 and featured the hit single "Butterfly On A Wheel". The album reached number 20 in the UK Albums Chart.

The Mission's seventh album, God is a Bullet, was released in 2007 and featured the hit single "Love Me to Death". The album reached number 59 in the UK Albums Chart.

The Mission's most recent album, Another Fall from Grace, was released in 2016 and featured the hit single "Met-Amor-Phosis". The album reached number 85 in the UK Albums Chart.

An interesting fact about The Mission is that their single "Tower of Strength" was featured in the movie "The Lost Boys" and was used in the opening sequence.
