The Monkees Vinyl Records

The Monkees were a pop rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1966 by Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith. The band was created to be the focus of an American television series of the same name, which aired from 1966 to 1968. The band's music was initially supervised by producers such as Don Kirshner, Chip Douglas, and Jeff Barry. The Monkees released their debut album, The Monkees, in 1966. It featured their number one hit single "Last Train to Clarksville" and their most successful album, 1967's More of the Monkees, which sold more than four million copies.

The Monkees released several chart-topping albums and singles over the course of their career, including their 1967 album Headquarters and their 1968 album Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. Among their most popular singles were "I'm a Believer" and "Daydream Believer."

The Monkees disbanded in 1971, but reunited in 1986 for a successful reunion tour. They released an album in 1996, Justus, and continued to tour sporadically until 2011.

An interesting fact about The Monkees is that all four original members have appeared in the cult classic film Head, which was released in 1968. The movie was written by Jack Nicholson and Bob Rafelson, who was also the director.
