The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys are an American country and gospel vocal quartet. Formed in 1945 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, they have been a major force in country music for more than five decades. The original members included brothers Duane and Joe Allen, Wally Fowler, and Smitty Gatlin. The group has had numerous lineup changes over the years, with the most recent being Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, Richard Sterban, and William Lee Golden.

The Oak Ridge Boys have released many popular albums, including the multi-platinum records "Elvira" (1981), "American Made" (1983), and "Unstoppable" (1987). Some of their most popular songs include "Elvira," "Bobbie Sue," "American Made," "Dream On," and "Y'all Come Back Saloon."

An interesting fact about the Oak Ridge Boys is that their original lead singer, Wally Fowler, was a pioneering disc jockey and a major influence on the development of country music radio. He was also the first person to play a country music record on the air in 1945.
