The O'Jays Vinyl Records

The O'Jays are a legendary R&B group from Canton, Ohio, consisting of founding members Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, and William Powell. The group formed in 1958 and originally went by the name the Triumphs. After gaining some success in their hometown, the group signed with Imperial Records in 1963 and changed their name to the O'Jays.

The O'Jays' career started with a string of hits on the R&B charts, such as “Lonely Drifter” and “Lipstick Traces (On a Cigarette).” However, it wasn’t until they signed with Philadelphia International Records in 1972 that they achieved mainstream success.

The O'Jays' biggest hits were on their classic albums, such as Back Stabbers (1972), Ship Ahoy (1973), and Survivor (1975). Standout songs include “Love Train”, “Back Stabbers”, “For the Love of Money”, and “Put Your Hands Together”.

In 2005, The O'Jays were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. An interesting fact about the group is that they have been nominated for five Grammy awards but have never won one.
