The Spencer Davis Group Vinyl Records

The Spencer Davis Group is an English rock band formed in Birmingham, England in 1963. The band originally consisted of Spencer Davis (guitar and vocals), Steve Winwood (organ, guitar, and vocals), Pete York (drums) and Muff Winwood (bass guitar).

The Spencer Davis Group had their first hit in 1965 with the song “Keep On Running”, which reached number one in the UK and number two in the US. Other notable songs include “Gimme Some Lovin’”, “I’m a Man” and “Somebody Help Me”.

Their most successful album was their 1966 release, Gimme Some Lovin’, which featured “Gimme Some Lovin’” and “I’m a Man”. The album reached number two in the UK and number 11 in the US.

An interesting fact about The Spencer Davis Group is that Steve Winwood left the band in 1967 to form Traffic. After the departure of Winwood, the band continued to perform and record until disbanding in 1969.
