The Tubes
The Tubes are an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1972 by Bill Spooner, Roger Steen, Rick Anderson, Vince Welnick and Prairie Prince. The band's claim to fame was their live shows, which were known for their wild and outrageous performances, such as having members dressed in costumes, and incorporating elements of shock rock.
The Tubes released their debut album The Tubes in 1975, which spawned the single "White Punks on Dope". The song gained the band a large cult following, and is still considered to be one of their most popular songs. Their other studio albums include Young and Rich (1976), Now (1977), Remote Control (1979), The Completion Backward Principle (1981), Love Bomb (1985), and Outside Inside (1983).
The band had several successful singles throughout their career, such as "She's a Beauty" (1983), "Talk to Ya Later" (1982), and "Tip of My Tongue" (1984).
An interesting fact about the band is that they were one of the first groups to be part of the first wave of MTV music videos. Their song "She's a Beauty" was the second video ever aired on the network.
