Thee Oh Sees, also known as The Oh Sees, is an American garage rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1997 by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist John Dwyer. The band has released 21 studio albums, 4 live albums, and numerous singles and EPs.
The band's early albums, such as The Cool Death of Island Raiders (2004) and The Master's Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In (2008), established them as an experimental and psychedelic rock band. Their more recent albums, such as Floating Coffin (2013) and Mutilator Defeated at Last (2015), have seen them move towards a more garage rock and punk rock sound.
Some of their standout albums include Putrifiers II (2012), Drop (2014), and A Weird Exits (2016). Some of their most popular songs include “Toe Cutter – Thumb Buster”, “The Dream”, “The Axis”, “The Lens”, and “I Come From the Mountain”.
An interesting fact about Thee Oh Sees is that the band has gone through many lineup changes since its inception in 1997, with John Dwyer being the only constant member. The band has also gone through several name changes, with the current name being adopted in 2009.
