This Melbourne-based pianist and composer has been quietly building a reputation for his laconic style of composition that is reminiscent of late seventies Italian film scores and sun-drenched exotica.
Sinj Clarke’s debut EP "Music For An Italian Afternoon" was a welcome surprise, showcasing his bold orchestration and auteur's attention to detail. Recorded over one week at Sydney's Linear Studios with an ensemble of over a dozen members, the EP was the result of a year-long experimentation in composition and arrangement, culminating in a sold-out performance at Surry Hill's iconic Shakespeare Hotel.
Following up with his double single "I Fell In Love, Again / Unas Horas", Sinj continued to develop his idiosyncratic sound, this time recorded simply to eight-track tape machine for an intimate and honest feel.
Sinj Clarke now prepares to release his sophomore album "The Height of Love”.
“The Height of Love” expresses Sinj’s keen focus on interpersonal experiences and emotions, which are the drive behind his compositional practice.
