The Art Tatum & Ben Webster Quartet album is a celebrated collaboration between two jazz legends: pianist Art Tatum and saxophonist Ben Webster. Released in 1958, it showcases the unique synergy between Tatum's virtuosic, complex piano technique and Webster's smooth, melodic tenor saxophone. With bassist Red Callender and drummer Bill Douglass completing the quartet, the album delivers a blend of swing and soulful expression. Known for its relaxed, bluesy atmosphere, tracks like “All the Things You Are” and “My One and Only Love” exemplify the interplay of Tatum's fast, intricate piano lines with Webster’s warm, lyrical saxophone. Originally released on the Riverside label it features Mitchell alongside Wynton Kelly (piano), Sam Jones (bass), and Roy Brooks (drums). This new edition of the album is released as part of the Original Jazz Classics Series and is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI with all-analog mastering from the original tapes at Cohearent Audio and presented in a tip-on Jacket.
