This time Granduciel again does not deviate a millimeter from this path: "Slave Ambient", the second album of THE WAR ON DRUGS, is a 47-minute metropolitan area of Rock'n'Roll, whose concept was created with a sense of adventure and realized with bravery.

Behind "Slave Ambient" features the best musicians from Philadelphia, including multi-instrumentalists Dave Hartley and Robbie Bennett and drummer Mike Zanghi. Recorded over the last four years in Granduciel's homestudio in Philadelphia, Jeff Ziegler's Uniform Recording Studio and Echo Mountain in Asheville, "Slave Ambient" places the craziest influences in exactly the right place.

Synthesizers are diving in where you expect an electric guitar (and exactly the other way around); country rock is getting started the distorted extravagance of the '80s pop. And as twisted as it sounds: all sounds are coming closed at an unmistakable place. Every song on "Slave Ambient" is immediately recognizable and infinitely complex; a latticework of ideas and energies that turns into kilometer-high rock anthems and the rest of them.
