Uncanny X-Men
Uncanny X-Men are an Australian new wave/synth-pop band formed in Melbourne in 1979. They are best known for their 1981 single, "Everybody Wants to Work", which reached No. 1 in the Australian charts and No. 4 in the UK charts.
Their first album, Uncanny X-Men, was released in 1980 and was followed by the album, Just Keep Walking, in 1981. Both albums featured their biggest hit, "Everybody Wants to Work", as well as other popular songs such as "50 Years", "Don't You Know I Love You", "No Time", "Tears in the Rain" and "Burn Down the Bridges".
In 1982, Uncanny X-Men released their third album, Moment of Truth. The album featured the single "Obsession", which reached No. 3 in the Australian charts and No. 8 in the UK. The band also released the single "Love Is a Lonely Place" in 1983.
An interesting fact about Uncanny X-Men is that they were the first Australian band to be featured on the BBC's Top of the Pops show.
