John Coltrane – Lush Life

Between spring 1957 and winter 1958 John Coltrane developed musically in big steps - and during this time the recording of "Lush Life" took place. In 1957 he worked for six months with Thelonious Monk and this collaboration had greatly contributed to Coltrane's progress. "Lush Life" contains his first recordings as a leader, here he plays for the first time with a trio without piano and his first extended interpretation of a ballad - the title-giving "Lush Life" by Billy Strayhorn.
