Wire
Wire is an English rock band, formed in London in 1976. The band's classic lineup included Colin Newman (vocals, guitar), Graham Lewis (bass, vocals), Bruce Gilbert (guitar), and Robert Gotobed (drums).
Wire's earliest albums, such as Pink Flag (1977) and Chairs Missing (1978), are considered to be among the greatest post-punk records. The band also released a number of albums in the 1980s and 1990s, including The Ideal Copy (1987), A Bell is a Cup...Until it is Struck (1988), and Manscape (1990).
Their most recent album, Silver/Lead, was released in 2017. It was praised by critics for its experimental approach to the band's classic sound.
Some of Wire's most popular songs include "Map Ref. 41°N 93°W" (1979), "Outdoor Miner" (1978), "I Am the Fly" (1978), and "Kidney Bingos" (1991).
An interesting fact about Wire is that the band has been credited with inspiring a number of modern musical genres, including new wave, post-punk, and indie rock.
