Zouk
Zouk is a musical style from the Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique, and is a mixture of African, Caribbean, and European musical styles. It originated in the late 1970s and was popularized in the early 1980s by French Antillean band Kassav'. Zouk is characterized by its fast-paced, rhythmically complex and danceable sound, and its use of synthesizers and drum machines. It is also characterized by its heavy use of accordion and saxophone, as well as its fusion of African, Caribbean, and European influences.
