The 17th album by the successful U.S. musician, multi-instrumentalist and passionate skateboarder. For Harper himself also something like a new beginning.
Widely inspired by the loss of a longtime friend and the lingering influence of a spirited and charismatic father, "Bloodline Maintenance" is the highly anticipated new and seventeenth studio album from three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter/musician/producer Ben Harper. An immensely personal soul album and the first non-instrumental solo album of new songs since 2016.
On 'Bloodline Maintenance' Harper applies the inventiveness of hip-hop to existing paradigms of soul, blues and jazz, reconfiguring the genre, a new black Americana, continuing his long history as one of the strongest protest singers of his generation.
At only 21 years old, Harper was already touring with blues legend Taj Mahal. In the years that followed, he made a name for himself with critics and fans alike around the world, earning a total of seven GRAMMY® nominations (which he also won three times) for his own genre-bending work, while also serving as a producer for Mavis Staples, Rickie Lee Jones and Ziggy Marley, among others, and collaborating with a host of artists ranging from John Lee Hooker, Charlie Musselwhite and Jack Johnson to Ringo Starr, Keith Richards and, most recently, Harry Styles.
