    Even if "Brown Rice" had been the trumpeter's only contribution to jazz, his place in the pantheon would be secure to this day. The 1975 album is a fat slice of psychedelic jazz-rock, incorporating blues and funk elements, as well as African, Indian and Middle Eastern influences
