Kamasi Washington has in just a few years become the icon of the current jazz generation. This double album (about 2.5 hours!) contains 16 songs that stretch the boundaries of traditional jazz by blending styles such as jazz, soul, symphonic rock, funk, fusion and film music. The album starts with a delicious interpretation of the soundtrack of Fist Of Fury, the seventies kung fu movie. 'Can You Hear Him' kicks off with a minute-long, screaming organ solo, before Washington lets his tenor sax speak. Tiffakonkae swings like crazy and Testify feels like an ​​eighties sax party. One moment all is smooth and then next the music growls. It never bores. Heaven & Eath moves both. A grand album indeed.
