  • To escape all the hustle and bustle, Page and Plant retreated a few weeks back to Bron-Y-Aur, a hamlet in Wales, in early 1970. The songs that were created there formed the basis for Led Zeppelin III. In terms of figures, that record was just as successful as its two predecessors, but fans and press had a hard time with it. Well, the record opened with a bang with Immigrant Song (an ode to the Viking raids) and Since I've Been Loving You is the best blues song the band ever recorded.

    Celebration Day and Out On The Tiles are rocking out. But the rest. British folk? It just goes to show that Led Zeppelin didn't need an overwhelming sound to convince, because they also impressed with acoustic music. Friends, That's The Way and the melancholy Tangerine showed an introspective side of the band, clearly influenced by Fairport Convention and The Incredible String Band.
