From a musical point of view, there are many dreamed and some dreamlike designs for the American ideal of being free on record. One of them was drawn by frontman Lowell George and his famous formation Little Feat in a "symbiosis of anarchistic primitive folklore and rock-technical finesse" (rororo Rocklexikon) praised by the experts. Their high standard, which the players never undercut for two vinyl sides, is set with "Hi Roller," a funky high-energy opener. The polyphonic title track "Time Loves A Hero" follows up with a moderate tempo with a lot of drive and sophisticated work in the percussion set, which as an important tool characterises the entire album.Little Feat juggles traditional forms, lures you onto the floor with the "Old Folks Boogie" and delivers a tasty melange of honky-tonk and blues, which is refined with punchy guitar solos.Like a picture puzzle, rhythmic figures and figurines flash out of the background of this handmade as well as solid filigree rock ("Red Streamliner", "Keepin' Up With The Joneses"). But simple and quiet is also possible: The message in "Missin' You" needs nothing more than acoustic guitar chords and male vocals in the sound of the South. This Speakers Corner production was made using 100% pure analog master tape and mastering All licenses and GEMA fees have been paid.Recorded: 1976-77 at Sunset Sound Studios, Warner Bros. Studios, Western Recorders, all of Hollywood, CA, and Record Plant, Sausalito, CA, by Donn LandeeProduction: Ted TemplemanReviews"If you haven't heard Little Feat before, start with the title track and give in to the pull of the record. Each of the nine songs is absolutely worth listening to, preferably over and over again." (Stereo, February 2019)"The Tower Of Power horn section contributes lush horn sections "The vocal lines are simply superb and Ted Templeman has produced a fantastic sound, from whose Dynamics, tidiness and transparency many people could still take a leaf could take a leaf out of their book." (Good Times, February/March 2019)"...Ted Templeman produced a sound here that is as dynamic as it is transparent, and Speakers Corner has done an excellent job of reissuing this top disc ..."
