Mark Lanegan Band – Bubblegum

The ex-Screaming Trees singer has attracted attention in recent years, especially as a member of the Queens Of The Stone Age, occasionally you could hear him on albums of friends like Melissa Auf der Maur and of course he was present at the Desert Sessions. In 2003 his own EP "Here Comes That Weird Chill" was finally released, recorded in a studio in the middle of Joshua Tree National Park in California. In the middle of the steppe, Lanegan produced a dust-dry, occasionally gloomy work that already hinted at where the musical journey was heading. "Bubblegum" is his most elaborate work yet. Occasionally you can clearly sense that the Queens' time with the Queens influenced his songwriting; the more rocky songs resemble an inspiring trip to hell. From the quiet tracks, whose dense arrangements combine perfectly with his unique voice, even the gentlemen Cave and Waits can take a leaf out of his book.
