"Graceland" from 1986 was the seventh studio album of singer/songwriter PAUL SIMON. In 1984, after a depressive phase, SIMON was fascinated by a bootleg cassette with music from a South African township. With Roy Halee he planned a trip to Johannesburg, where he recorded with South African musicians for two weeks. The album thus features an eclectic mix of genres, including pop, rock, a capella, Zydeco, Isicathamiya and Mbaqnaga. SIMON composes new songs under the impression of these recordings and collaborated with African and American musicians."Graceland" was a commercial success and was to be the most successful Studio album SIMONs. In 1987 it won the Grammy as "Album Of The Year" and sold over 16 million copies worldwide.
