  • Animals is the tenth studio album by Pink Floyd, released in January 1977. It is a concept album that contains a scathing critique of the socio-political conditions in Britain in the late 1970s and represents a significant change in musical style compared to her earlier work. Animals was recorded in the band's studio, Britannia Row, in London, but production was interrupted by the first signs of disagreement, culminating a few years later when keyboardist Richard Wright left the band. The album cover image, a pig hovering between two chimneys of Battersea Power Station, was conceived by bassist and writer Roger Waters and photographed by longtime collaborators Hipgnosis.

The album was released in the UK, where it reached number 2, with generally positive reviews. It was also a success in the United States, where it reached #3 on the Billboard 200, and although it was only in the American charts for six months, steady sales have led to it being certified by the RIAA with four times platinum.
