He's been announced on social media and in the Billboard charts for some time: there's a new star rising in the country (and Americana rock) sky. His name is Zach Bryan, full name Zachary Lane Bryan, and he hails from the tiny town of Oologah, Oklahoma. he is 26 years old and spent from 2013 to 2021 as a naval officer.
Even at that time he was writing songs and singing them. He self-published two albums before Warner Nashville signed him. His self-written material was immediately enough for a triple album, 34 songs contains American Heartbreak. Each of the songs, which he usually accompanies only with a guitar, tells a story. Sometimes the drums and a harmonica join in. Thematically, it is often about relationships as in "Happy Instead" or the current single "Something In The Orange", which is one of the absolute hits of the year 2022 in the USA, Canada, Australia.
The album "American Heartbreak" impresses with a restrained but very successful instrumentalization, a catchy and convincing performance of Zach Bryan, who is a really special songwriter and is able to communicate a lot at a young age, and the wide range of different songs. Reminiscent of the young Bob Dylan and Steve Earle, Zach Bryan is a singer and songwriter who certainly has a great future if he can maintain this creativity.
