  • At the end of January 2018 the pianist, composer and producer Nils Frahm released his seventh studio album "All Melody" on Erased Tapes. It turned out to be a sensational, internationally acclaimed success.

    But at that time nobody suspected, let alone dared to hope: Frahm had recorded about 60 tracks during the sessions of "All Melody"! But only a dozen tracks were used on the album. Last summer, the EP "Encores 1" proved that the large remainder was by no means rejects.

    The 12" contained five piano tudes enriched discreetly with electronic sounds. "Encores 2 is stylistically different. The four recordings rather bring the not considered ambient aspects of "All Melody" to the ears. In particular, the concluding twelve-minute "Spells", recorded by a reinforced stone that Frahm once found in Mallorca, can hardly be topped in its ethereal, rambling incorporeality.
