"2 Ravens" is the name of the new project by Roger O'Donnell, keyboardist for the legendary English rock band The Cure, and it came about in part through a collaboration with vocalist and lyricist Jennifer Pague of Vita And The Woolf. The album was heavily influenced by O'Donnell's life in rural England and is therefore very personal to him. He wrote it at a very cold and bleak time of year, having returned from a world tour with The Cure in December 2016 straight to the bleak isolation. It was recorded in just five days at Air Edel studios in London with some of Roger's favorite musicians, including Alisa Liubarskaya, Miriam Wakeling, Aled Jones, Nadine Nagen and Daniel Gea"2 Ravens" began as an instrumental record, accompanied by two cellos on Side A and a string quartet on Side B, until O'Donnell was introduced to artist Jennifer Pague and sent the album to her for a feature. Pague then sent back a 90-second audio track of her singing, overwhelming O'Donnell with her interpretation. Rather than taking the lead, the piano plays a supporting role on the long-player, and along with all the other instruments, frames the imagery that emerged from Pague's vocals, while the instrumentals tell more stories that can't be put into words.
