Anyone who hasn't played this treasure on the many Mingus LPs, CDs and downloads for ages should get it quickly!"The Clown" is and remains one of the must-have records in a jazz collection. The LP was recorded for Atlantic in New York in March 1957 in a small line-up of only five, and contains exclusively original compositions by the bassist. Three of them were to be heard in many concerts with other line-ups over the next 15 years. But the original recordings on this LP were and remain the most intense, the most varied and simply the best.
