After enough time away from home, even the familiar slowly feels strange. Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever (aka RBCF) have been watching the world through the windows of airplanes and tour buses in recent years. On "Sideways To New Italy" the five Melbournians reflect on their individual past and the places that have shaped it. The eponymous New Italy is a village near the Northern Rivers of New South Wales - the area where drummer Marcel Tussie comes from. It was founded at the end of the 18th century by Venetian immigrants and today serves as a kind of living monument to Italy's influence on Australia. On "Sideways To New Italy" the detailed, cinematic songwriting of RBCF comes into its own. Crossed landscapes and emotional memories are musically traced by the driving guitars.
