"It's not Khruangbin, it's not Leon, it's this world we created together," Khruangbin & Leon Bridges announce their new "Texas Moon EP." That this sentence is true, the artists, who could hardly be more different, proved two years ago on their first joint EP "Texas Sun".Khruangbin, which is Laura Lee, Mark Speer and Donald "DJ," is a psychedelic funk combo from Houston, Texas. Leon Bridges is a soul singer with a penchant for retro sounds from Fort Worth in, that's right, also Texas. And therein lies their connection. After the musicians met on tour, a plan to record music together was born. That this plan worked out is well known by now. After the four songs of the predecessor, "Texas Moon" now features five tracks that, to return to the announcement, combine the best of both worlds: exotic funk and the unique soulful voice of Leon Bridges. The fact that the songs are clearly a continuation of the first EP, but still have an identity all their own, is evident in the first single release, "B-Side." Bridges called the "Texas Moon EP" "more introspective," while Khruangbin bassist Laura Lee says it "feels more nighttime."
