Tony Allen returns in 2017 with a new album: "The Source" is the name of the record on which the Nigerian drummer and songwriter worked together with saxophonist Yann Jankielewicz.A total of eleven Allen originals were written and recorded together for "The Source". They were supported in the studio by some of the best jazz musicians on the Parisian scene, including saxophonists Rémi Sciuto and Jean-Jacques Elangue, trumpeter Nicolas Giraud, trombonist Daniel Zimmermann, bassist Mathias Allamane, pianist Jean-Philippe Dary and keyboardist Vincent Taurelle, who produced the album together with Bertrand Fresel.In addition, Cameroonian guitarist Indy Dibongue and, as special guest, Blur front man Damon Albarn also contributed to the new album. The latter took the piano part in the song "Cool Cats".Tony Allen already gave a first taste of "The Source" with the single "Wolf Eats Wolf".
