Cool Jazz
Cool Jazz is a style of jazz music developed in the late 1940s and 1950s. It is characterized by a light, relaxed, and smooth sound with an emphasis on melodic lines and harmonic structure. The style often features light accompaniment and subtle use of instruments such as the guitar and vibraphone. Cool Jazz also features improvisation and often draws from classical music. It has been influenced by such jazz styles as Bebop and West Coast Jazz, as well as classical composers such as Bach, Debussy, and Ravel. Cool Jazz musicians include Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Chet Baker, and Gerry Mulligan.
